Parent Guide

Is this hockey showcase worth the money?

A hockey parent guide to checking showcase cost, fit, proof, timing, and red flags before paying.

Start with the real question

A showcase is not automatically good or bad. The question is whether this specific event gives your player something useful for the money, timing, level, and current goals.

What to check before paying

Ask who will actually be there, what level of players usually attend, whether your player will be seen in a meaningful role, what the full travel cost is, and what proof the organizer can show beyond vague exposure language.

Red flags

Be careful with hard-sell deadlines, guaranteed exposure claims, unclear player level, no published schedule, no coaching/scouting detail, or pricing that keeps growing through hotel blocks, film, jerseys, and add-ons.

A better parent move

If the event cannot explain the value in plain language, slow down. A useful opportunity should survive a few basic questions.
